Abstract Scope |
3D printing technology has gained prominence in the construction industry for molding mortar-based elements. With the emergence of innovative materials, it becomes essential to develop appropriate methodologies for characterizing their properties, in order to ensure a product with predictable, reliable, and durable performance. Although the characterization of Portland cement-based mortars is well established, 3D-printed mortars exhibit high sensitivity to printing parameters, which significantly influence their behavior in both fresh and hardened states. In this context, the present study aims to establish criteria for determining the flexural and compressive strength of printed specimens, comparing them to conventionally molded ones according to standard guidelines. The results indicate that, although 3D printing offers advantages in terms of automation and design freedom, its structural application still depends on advances in material formulation and control of printing parameters to achieve mechanical performance equivalent to traditional methods. |
