Ba₁₋₃ₓCr₂ₓTi₁₋₃ₓEr₄ₓO₃ ceramics (x = 0 and 0.30 wt.%) were synthesized by ball milling followed by thermal treatment. Powders were milled for 6 h using zirconia media and acetone as a process control agent, then sintered at 1200 °C for 6 h in air. X-ray diffraction confirmed the formation of a predominantly tetragonal BaTiO₃ phase, indicating successful incorporation of Er³⁺ and Cr³⁺ into the perovskite lattice. Dielectric characterization of 10 mm capacitor specimens at 1 kHz and 10 kHz showed that co-doping shifted the Curie temperature of the x = 0.30 composition to 105 °C at both frequencies, evidencing a significant modification of the ferroelectric–paraelectric phase transition. High-resolution scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersive spectroscopy (HRSEM-EDS) revealed dense microstructures with characteristic neck formation and homogeneous dopant distribution. These results demonstrate the potential of Er³⁺/Cr³⁺ co-doped BaTiO₃ ceramics for advanced dielectric capacitor applications. |
