| Abstract Scope |
Feedstock design is a promising approach to tune processability and performance in additively manufactured alloys. This work evaluates a Cu-Ni powder modified by low-energy ball milling with 1 wt.% Si and Nb additions, and by controlled feedstock pre-oxidation at 250 °C for 1 h. Modified powders were characterized for morphology and dispersion, processed by laser powder bed fusion, and evaluated using microscopy, X-ray diffraction, nanoindentation, and electrochemical testing. Slow milling with a low ball-to-powder ratio preserved powder morphology and avoided agglomeration, while printed samples showed no coarse additive particles. Feedstock modification changed hardness, elastic modulus, and breakdown potential. Si-containing feedstock produced the highest hardness and modulus, whereas oxidized feedstock produced the highest breakdown potential. These results demonstrate that feedstock engineering can tune mechanical and corrosion performance while maintaining the Cu-30Ni composition range. |
