Abstract Scope Co-Ti alloys are promising alternatives to γ/γ′-strengthened Co-Al-W alloys, which are reported to form metastable γ′-Co3(Al,W) only within a narrow compositional range. Here we report on Atom Probe Tomography (APT) studies of Co-Ti-X model alloys (X: Mo, W, Cr, Al). APT reveals that Co and Cr partition to γ, whereas Ti, Mo, W, and Al partition to γ'. Additions of third elements to the reference Co-Ti system lead to significant increases in γ' volume fraction. APT analyses of the L12-ordered γ' phase reveal that the third elements preferentially replace Ti on its sublattice. Some of them also affect the Ti solubility within γ. The remaining excess Ti is available for formation of additional γ', resulting in enhanced γ' volume fractions and phase stability.
