Abstract Scope Boston Metal’s Molten Oxide Electrolysis (MOE) technology has the potential to redefine global metals production. MOE delivers a scalable, carbon emissions-free solution for ironmaking (steel) and a sustainable, profitable pathway to recover critical metals from mining and metallurgical waste. To revolutionize steel production, the MOE platform technology uses a first-of-its-kind inert anode which withstands the high-temperature, corrosive environment involved in iron oxide electrolysis. MOE is highly selective, which not only allows its use with the full range of traded iron ores as feedstock but also enables processing unconventional oxide feedstocks to produce different classes of metals. This flexibility results in an efficient, cost-effective process since it can tap into diversified supply chains. Further, MOE is deployed as a series of cells that are modular and able to scale to meet specific production targets.
