Abstract Scope |
Recent additive manufacturing (AM) advances combined with traditional processing techniques have created pathways for novel AM strategies for refractory ceramics. We report results for reaction bonded silicon nitride (RBSN) fabricated by binder jet additive manufacturing (BJAM) of silicon powder and nitriding. Process parameters, microstructure, and chemical composition are analyzed and discussed. Room temperature flexural strength and thermal shock are discussed. Continued efforts will investigate densification, process optimization, oxidation behavior, thermal properties, and thermo-mechanical properties.
