| Abstract Scope |
Andalusite is a natural mineral containing high aluminum oxide. Heating at high temperature, andalusite is decomposed into mullite and silica while generating numerous mullite crystals directly from a single crystal of andalusite and forming a parallel arrangement of the multiple mullite crystals. This is a unique phenomenon of phase transformation. It will critically affect the microstructure and mechanical property of the result ceramics. |
