Abstract Scope |
This work explores the synthesis and characterization of nanocrystalline CuWO4-CuO as visible-light-activated photocatalysts. Their unique morphology, offering large surface area and high crystallinity ,was achieved by sol-gel ceramic synthesis and/or blend electrospinning. The photocatalytic activity of this system was assessed in UV and visible light for the decomposition of methylene blue dye and benzene in aqueous environments. The photoelectrochemical properties of this nanomaterial system were also studied using cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. These catalysts generate 140 nA/cm2 under simulated sunlight with 0.1M benzoic acid/0.1M KOH. The high photocatalytic rate observed and the relatively simple synthesis route of CuWO4(n- type)– CuO (p-type) present this material system as a highly desirable visible light-activated
photocatalysts. |
