| Abstract Scope |
This work evaluates the Initial Concept 3.0 high-speed vehicle outer mold line using a Titanium Alloy-Titanium ceramic functionally graded material system. To inform the evaluation, the performance requirements for IC 3.0 have been determined from published scientific literature. Using these performance requirements, an initial functionally graded material (FGM) design has been determined by using a new material optimization routine. Multiple homogenization schemes for FGM distribution are available in the optimization routine. The routine is verified using finite element analysis. Analytical and finite element models developed for this FGM design are presented. |
