| Abstract Scope |
The Medium Mn Steel are class of 3rd generation advance high strength steel with microstructure comparising of ultra fine austenite and ferrite phases. The ultra fine microstructure increases yield strength and ultimate tensile strength , but to improve ductility in ultra fine microstructure , the medium Mn steel take advantage of Transformation Induced Plasticity effect in austenite grain. Due to strain induced transformation in TRIP steels , the austenite in medium Mn steel transform to martensite below yield stress which reduces reduction in area of cross-section in uniaxial tensile test due to increased strain hardening from austenite to martensite transformation. The mechanical stability of austenite need to controlled by suitable Inter-critical Annealing treatment which do not increase grain size but partition the carbon and Mn into austenite. |
