| Abstract Scope |
Recent factors that drive interest in refractory alloys include industrialization of space, commercialization of fusion and advanced fission, and the multi-principal alloy concept. In addition to revitalizing the academic community, these activities have created opportunities for alloys with more complex strengthening mechanisms. Incumbent alloys in this space are typically single phase and have simple heat treatment schedules. This talk will review industrial production of wrought refractory alloys and how those methods will need to evolve for emerging alloy systems with a particular focus on heat treatable refractory alloys with second phase strengthening. |
