| Abstract Scope |
The thermal decomposition of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during the decoating process leads to the formation of a residue, commonly referred to as char, on the material surface. However, the subsequent oxidation required to remove this char can significantly increase surface oxidation of the underlying metal, thereby contributing to elevated melt loss. Composite packaging contains significantly more organic material than lacquer-coated aluminum, leading to higher VOC emissions and greater char formation during pyrolysis.
To address these challenges in processing high-VOC-content scrap, we
developed an advanced char separation mechanism. This system incorporates a secondary screening layer within the rotary kiln, specifically designed to isolate and remove char residues more effectively. This approach significantly reduces material loss and enhances operational safety during the decoating of high-VOC aluminum scrap. |
