| Abstract Scope |
Cold spray technology enables the repair of metal workpieces without melting, thereby avoiding heat-induced degradation of material properties. Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing (CSAM) allows for the creation of new components at high build rates under ambient conditions, also without melting. In both repair and manufacturing applications, toolpath planning and robot programming present significant challenges. Cold spray requires specialized toolpaths due to the continuous nature of the process and the high traverse speeds involved. Continuous3D is a digital manufacturing solution designed for robotic additive manufacturing. The software performs advanced motion planning to optimize robot movement and can integrate directly with robotic systems for real-time control. It also incorporates sensing and machine vision algorithms, enabling the robotic system to measure workpiece geometry and generate an appropriate repair strategy. This presentation highlights how digital tools like Continuous3D can unlock new applications for cold spray technology. |
