| Abstract Scope |
Hastelloy X (HX) is a solid-solution-strengthened Ni-based superalloy widely used for high-temperature components, including combustor liners in aerospace and industrial gas turbines. With the growing demand for additive manufacturing, high-quality HX powders are increasingly required. However, most previous studies have focused on the processability and mechanical properties of additively manufactured HX parts, while systematic data on the relationship between gas atomization conditions and powder characteristics remain limited. In this study, HX powders were fabricated by gas atomization under different processing conditions. The effects of atomization parameters on particle size distribution, morphology, flowability, chemical composition, and oxygen/carbon contents were evaluated. This work provides a fundamental database for understanding how gas atomization conditions affect HX powder quality and supports the optimization of powder manufacturing for DED and other additive manufacturing processes |
