| Abstract Scope |
Like other additive manufacturing techniques, cold spray manufacturing is positioned to capitalize on advances and trends in science and engineering. Two of these topics include artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) and advances in sustainability. A large language model (LLM)-pipeline will be introduced to leverage an unstructured data lake containing decades of peer-reviewed literature, enabling targeted document querying, expediting discovery of related works, and producing large structured datasets for modeling. Sustainability efforts include numerous ways to improve the sustainability of cold spray processes, including using recycled feedstock powder, implementing powder reclamation, and carrier gas generation, complemented by model-based heat treatment and print parameter design which optimizes energy input in the cold spray process. |
