Abstract Scope |
Brazil stands out internationally in the ornamental rock production chain, presenting wide geological diversity, being one of the main producers and exporters. This study aimed to produce artificial agglomerated rocks from three distinct lithotypes of beneficiation waste, in epoxy matrix, through the vacuum vibro-thermal compression process. The uniaxial compressive strength of these agglomerated rocks was evaluated and compared with that of the corresponding natural rocks. The results indicated that the agglomerated rocks presented strength classified as medium, while the natural rocks exhibited superior performance, with values ranging from medium to very high strength, meeting the criteria of ABNT NBR 15844:2015. It is concluded that the artificial agglomerated rocks, despite presenting lower strength than the natural ones, are suitable for applications in civil construction that do not involve structural function. In turn, the natural rocks demonstrated strength compatible with structural use, ensuring their application in civil engineering. |
