Recent advances in LHe and LN2 cooling technologies have transformed STEM, enabling unprecedented stability for atomic-resolution imaging and 4D-STEM at cryogenic temperatures. These developments provide new opportunities to directly visualize emergent quantum phases that exist only at low temperatures. This talk will highlight recent advances in cryogenic 4D-STEM methodologies for investigating both structural and magnetic order in quantum materials. In charge-density-wave systems, cryogenic 4D-STEM reveals picometer-scale lattice distortions, domain structures, and competing density-wave instabilities. Complementarily, cryogenic Lorentz 4D-STEM enables quantitative imaging of magnetic induction and domain structures, providing new insights into mesoscale magnetostructural phase separation and magnetic anisotropy in a layered magnet. These results show that the integration of stable cryogenic instrumentation with 4D-STEM is opening new opportunities to directly correlate lattice with charge and magnetic orders in materials under the conditions where these phases emerge.
