| Abstract Scope |
Synthetic aggregate is a manufactured material produced by sintering at elevated temperatures, with properties that depend on the composition of the raw materials and processing conditions. In this study, formulations containing bauxite residue, aluminosilicate clay, and biomass from açaí seeds (Euterpe oleracea) were evaluated to produce lightweight expanded clay aggregates at different sintering temperatures. The samples were characterized by physical properties, X-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results indicated that the incorporation of açaí seed biomass promoted pore formation during sintering, contributing to the production of synthetic aggregates with reduced density while maintaining the integrity of the ceramic matrix. This approach provides a sustainable route for valorizing both bauxite residue and agricultural biomass waste for applications in the construction industry. |
