Abstract Scope |
Compositionally complex alloys, including medium and high entropy systems, offer a unique platform for studying phase stability, transformation pathways, and kinetic phenomena under extreme conditions. In this work, we investigate the behavior of select multi-principal element alloys subject to high strain rate shock loading. Our efforts focus on materials in the Co-Ni family of alloys, including AlCoCrFeNi2.1, Ni40Co20Fe10Cr10Al18W2, CrCoNi and VCoNi. We use a combination of diagnostics including velocimetry and in situ X-ray diffraction to probe the shock response of these alloys, both during compression and release. We will discuss the effects of initial microstructure and strain rate on the elastic limit and phase transformations. |
