Abstract Scope |
This research investigated composites made of rice husk with photo-polymeric resin using the VAT photopolymerization additive manufacturing technique. Samples of 0, 2.5, 5.0, and 10wt% were prepared. Several parameters were varied to see their effect on the mechanical response. The tensile tests were conducted in a universal testing machine at 1mm/min, while their microstructure was observed in an optical and a scanning electron microscopy. Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy and density tests were conducted as well. Results show that rice husk is feasible to be used as reinforcement for the resin, and based on the amount of this waste in many countries can be a sustainable business for diverse functional applications. |
