| Abstract Scope |
Artificial superconducting multiferroics, composed of asymmetric superconductor/ferromagnet multilayers, provide a versatile platform for realizing novel magnetic functionalities through engineered symmetry breaking. We demonstrate a zero-field superconducting diode effect (SDE) arising from broken time-reversal and space-inversion symmetries induced by magnetization and structural asymmetry. The diode polarity and ON/OFF state are reversibly controlled by the magnetization configuration of the ferromagnetic layers, enabling nonvolatile manipulation of nonreciprocal superconducting transport. Furthermore, nanoscale multilayer engineering allows systematic tuning of superconductivity and the nonreciprocal critical current through the thickness, periodicity, and arrangement of magnetic layers. These results establish artificial superconducting multiferroics as a new class of functional magnetic materials, providing a pathway toward nonvolatile superconducting devices. |
