Abstract Scope |
The integration of magnetic functionalities into bio-based composite materials presents exciting opportunities for sustainable and advanced manufacturing. Multifunctional biocomposites combining bio-derived polymer matrices with magnetically active micro- and nanoparticles have been developed to meet the growing demand for smart, environmentally responsible materials. While magnetic materials have long served in energy-related applications, such as permanent magnets for power generation and magnetocaloric materials for efficient cooling, new functionalities are revealing possibilities in sensing, actuation, and responsive systems. By tailoring the composition and viscosity of magnetic inks, the materials are processed using additive manufacturing techniques including screen-printing and direct ink writing, enabling precise control over structure and functionality. Comprehensive synthesis, structural, and magnetic characterization validate the performance of these composites. The results demonstrate the potential of magnetic biocomposites as sustainable and versatile materials for next-generation applications at the intersection of magnetism, material science, and advanced manufacturing. |
