Abstract Scope |
Additive manufacturing and coatings present unique challenges due to their surface roughness, anisotropy, and process-induced variability. Rtec Instruments has developed advanced tribology platforms that integrate scratch, indentation, and friction testing with 3D profilometry and mechanical property mapping. These systems enable comprehensive evaluation of hardness, adhesion, and wear behavior across metal, polymer, and composite materials. Recent developments support testing under controlled environments to simulate real-use conditions. Case studies highlight how these tools assess the effects of build orientation, post-processing, and surface treatments on mechanical and tribological performance. These capabilities accelerate qualification and optimization of materials and coatings across the industries. |
