| Abstract Scope |
This study evaluated the durability of different leveling compound formulations produced with pigment derived from ornamental stone processing waste. Initially, the formulations were characterized based on abrasion resistance, water absorption, and solids content. Natural weathering tests were conducted in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and accelerated weathering tests were performed using a weathering chamber, which simulates UV radiation, high temperatures, and condensation cycles. Durability was assessed through color changes using the ΔE parameter, visual inspection of cracking, and biological growth on the surface. The results indicated differences in the performance of the formulations as a function of resin and pigment proportions, highlighting the influence of these parameters on the physical properties and weathering resistance of the leveling compounds. |
