| Abstract Scope |
Aiming at the frequent cracking caused by excessive corner supercooling in the secondary cooling zone of slab continuous casting, this study takes a 1930 caster of a certain steel plant as the object and proposes a graded width-cutting strategy. The strategy divides the fifth to eighth cooling segments into four levels and achieves width cutting by closing the spray nozzles on both sides of different zones. Based on the Ar3 temperature of P280VK steel calculated by Thermo-Calc, combined with numerical simulation, a matching relationship among width, casting speed, and width-cutting scheme is established. The results show that the graded width-cutting strategy can effectively raise the corner temperature above the Ar3 temperature, thereby avoiding the brittle temperature zone, while also reducing the water consumption at the slab edges. |
