This work presents the synthesis and characterization of an epoxy-based nanocomposite reinforced with bismuth oxide (Bi₂O₃) nanoparticles. The effects of the filler on the morphological, optical, and viscoelastic properties were investigated. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) revealed a heterogeneous structure with particle agglomerates, while Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) confirmed the elemental distribution. UV-Vis spectroscopy showed that Bi₂O₃ increased reflectivity without significantly affecting the optical band gap, preserving transparency in the visible region. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) indicated a slight reduction in the storage modulus (E′) at low temperatures but an increase in the glass transition temperature to approximately 70 °C, suggesting restricted polymer chain mobility. Cole-Cole analysis revealed stable relaxation behavior, indicating good structural homogeneity. These results demonstrate that the developed nanocomposite exhibits enhanced thermal stability and promising optical performance, making it a potential candidate for optical coatings and engineering components requiring efficient damping and thermal resistance. |
