| Abstract Scope |
Beta III, Ti-based alloys are widely considered as promising materials for biomedical applications. In this aspect, various methods have been employed to improve the efficacy of these kinds of alloys for biointegration of implants in both osseous and soft tissue. A preliminary parametric study for exploiting the influence of the femtosecond laser micromachining process and the connection between surface and in-depth hardness values is investigated for scaling up the surface characteristics of the Beta III, Ti-11.5Mo-6Zr-4.5Sn alloys. The resulting ablation depth and surface morphology were quantified through measurements and characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The experimental data is based on a full factorial design of experiment approach and is analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) to reveal correlations between the chosen laser parameters and the observed result. The insights gained from this research provide important future aspects of micromachining biomedical alloys and obtaining better biocompatibility outcomes. |
