| Abstract Scope |
Microstructural evolution in refractory alloys remains a central challenge in additive manufacturing for extreme-environment applications. This study investigates electron beam processed Nb–1Zr alloys fabricated using conventional raster scanning, with and without TaC inoculant additions. Using identical processing conditions, the role of TaC inoculation on grain morphology, texture development, and resulting mechanical properties is evaluated. The results provide insight into how carbide inoculants interact with the solidification conditions inherent to electron beam processing, contributing to improved understanding of process–structure–property relationships in additively manufactured Nb-based refractory alloys. |
