| Abstract Scope |
This study aims to evaluate the feasibility of using mining rock waste aggregates as coarse aggregates in concrete. Initially, the mining rock waste aggregate will be characterized through the main parameters applicable to this type of material, including particle size distribution, specific gravity, particle shape index, and Los Angeles abrasion resistance. Concrete mixtures containing 0%, 25%, 50%, and 100% recycled aggregate as a replacement for conventional crushed stone coarse aggregate will be produced. The concretes will be evaluated in terms of their main fresh and hardened properties, including workability (slump test), fresh density, air content, hardened density, water absorption by immersion, capillary water absorption, compressive strength, flexural tensile strength, and surface hardness by rebound hammer testing. This research is expected to advance the application of mining rock waste aggregates in concrete, providing a sustainable alternative to the use of conventional natural aggregates. |
