| Abstract Scope |
The development of polymer composites reinforced with recycled textile materials is emerging as a promising strategy for producing sustainable materials for biomedical applications. In this study, denim and linen fabrics were investigated as potential reinforcements in polymer composites intended for orthopedic applications. Structural characterization was performed using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), which allowed for the identification of the chemical interactions present in the materials. The thermal stability of the fabrics was evaluated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), determining the degradation mechanisms and usable temperature ranges. The results demonstrate the viability of these textile waste materials as sustainable alternatives for composite materials applicable in orthopedic prostheses. |
