Abstract Scope |
This work explores a new pathway for recovering value from aluminum foil scrap by converting it into a clean energy product and a hydrated alumina co-product. CBA, an integrated aluminum company, and Found Energy, a technology provider, evaluate the potential to produce high-purity hydrated alumina from foil scrap feedstock. The resulting hydrated alumina is characterized for purity and particle size and assessed for alignment with market applications that demand high-grade materials. A techno-economic assessment considers feedstock value, processing costs, and potential revenue from both the energy output and alumina co-product. This study illustrates how alternative pathways can unlock new value streams from challenging aluminum scrap materials. |
