| Abstract Scope |
Implementing worldwide advanced energy infrastructure requires advanced materials capable of withstanding harsh environments, such as within a nuclear reactor. Process-informed manufacturing enables the accelerated development of these advanced materials by digitally constructing solutions to alleviate the time-delay in the “design-test-build” approach currently required for fabrication of complex metal alloys and high-performance ceramic parts. In this work, a variety of part geometries were created using pressure transfer media (PTM) and electric field assisted sintering (EFAS). Both green and sintered parts were imaged using X-ray computed tomography (XCT) to examine part geometry pre- and post-sintering. The pre- to post-sintered transformations were measured with the goal of inputting them into a neutral network model to attempt to tailor the preform part geometry to generate the desired sintered geometry. This discussion encapsulates the part fabrication and modeling, XCT methodology, and the latest progress on training the neural network to desired part geometry. |
