| Abstract Scope |
This study investigated the development of sustainable cementitious composites by incorporating pineapple leaf fibers into adhesive mortars, adopting the addition content (1% to 4%) and chemical treatment as experimental variables. The experimental program comprised fiber characterization and the formulation of matrices composed of cement, lime, and sand, which were evaluated through tensile adhesion strength, open time, and slip tests. The results showed that for chemically treated fibers, the adhesion strength increased proportionally with the reinforcement incorporation. These trends were corroborated by the open time test, observing that 100% of the failures occurred within the mortar in both assays. The slip exhibited a slight decrease as fibers were added, regardless of the treatment applied. In conclusion, treated fibers show significant potential to optimize the tensile adhesion strength of adhesive mortars, with the 3% content demonstrating the highest potential for application. |
