| Abstract Scope |
Ultrasonic atomization has established itself as a promising method of powder production for additive manufacturing thanks to advantages in terms of powder quality and yield of usable powder. However, there remain significant challenges to maximize this technology as a sustainable, scalable powder production method. Considering this, we aim to optimize the ultrasonic atomization process through developing a sensor suite that will enable increased automation and digital twin implementation. A technoeconomic model of the process is used to motivate the selection of optimization areas and the initial work on sensor integration with current systems. Further areas of interest for improved efficiency and reduced waste are also outlined. |
