Abstract Scope Retained austenite is an important phase controlling the plasticity of high strength sheet steels during forming and in service. This talk will focus on the novel developments made by Dave Fulwood and colleagues to use high resolution electron back scatter diffraction for understanding retained austenite transformation for various strain paths. This information allows us to design microstructures based on application without essentially changing steel chemistry.
