| Abstract Scope |
Materials for extremes is a current focal point of materials research for industries such as next-generation nuclear energy systems, advanced propulsion systems, and manufacturing. Current material testing capabilities are lacking to collect accurate, realistic data past 1500 K, with resources being even scarcer for in-situ measurement via synchrotron or neutron techniques, resulting in a key knowledge gap that is critical for the next industrial-frontier advancement. This presentation discusses the current and future
challenges and needs of high-temperature in-situ mechanical testing to properly understand and solve the problems posed by the complex extreme loading conditions of the current frontier barriers. |
