High-entropy oxides (HEOs) offer a pathway to tailor functional properties via multi-element disorder. While the effects of ion irradiation on polycrystalline HEOs are gaining interest, structural modifications in epitaxial HEO thin films remain unexplored. Here, we report the response of epitaxial Ba(ZrSnTiHfNb)O3 thin films, grown on SrTiO3 (001) via pulsed laser deposition, to ion irradiation. The films were irradiated at room temperature with 1 MeV Au²⁺ ions at a fluence of 1.2 × 10¹³ cm⁻² under a vacuum. Preliminary structural characterization reveals distinct ion-induced structural modifications and the emergence of new phase formations resulting from the irradiation. These findings provide crucial insights into defect engineering, phase stability, and radiation tolerance in single-crystalline high-entropy perovskites, laying the foundation for advanced oxide-based device applications in radiation-harsh environments. |
