| Abstract Scope |
The incorporation of post-consumer glass packaging waste into red ceramic formulations aligns with the principles of the circular economy, transforming an urban waste into a valuable raw material, reducing energy costs, and increasing material resistance. Although modern industrial activity is essential, it is one of the main sources of solid, liquid, and gaseous waste. Given this, this project aims to evaluate the effect of incorporating glass powder into the ceramic sector. The glass waste will undergo mineralogical, chemical, physical, thermal, and morphological characterizations. Subsequently, different compositions incorporating the waste will be prepared for firing at temperatures ranging from 700 to 1050 °C. Finally, the properties of the ceramics will be evaluated through physical and mechanical tests (bulk density, linear shrinkage, water absorption, and flexural strength) and microstructural analysis via Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). |
