| Abstract Scope |
This work investigates the effects of post deposition annealing on Laser Directed Energy Deposition (LDED) processed NdFeB bulk samples to improve their structural and magnetic characteristics. High density printed specimens are subjected to a systematic range of annealing temperatures to evaluate the resulting microstructural evolution, phase transformations, and magnetic performance. Characterization techniques, including electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, are utilized to analyze differences in phase distributions and grain size refinement across the different thermal cycles. Furthermore, the resulting magnetic performance, specifically the recovery of intrinsic coercivity and magnetization behavior, is evaluated across these heat treatment conditions. The relationships between annealing temperature, microstructural features, phase stability, and magnetic metrics are systematically discussed to establish the role of post deposition heat treatments on LDED fabricated NdFeB permanent magnets. |
