The application of fused filament fabrication (FFF) for producing high-performance polymer composites has attracted increasing interest in military engineering due to its design flexibility and lightweight characteristics. This study investigates the relationship between internal porosity and the dynamic mechanical behavior of short carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide (PAHT-CF) manufactured by FFF. X-ray micro-computed tomography (micro-CT) was employed to quantify porosity and characterize the three-dimensional distribution of internal voids. Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA) was used to determine the storage modulus, loss modulus, and damping factor, providing insight into the viscoelastic response of the printed composites. The results demonstrated that lower porosity levels were associated with higher stiffness and reduced energy dissipation, indicating improved bonding between adjacent deposited filaments. The combined use of micro-CT and DMA proved effective for correlating internal microstructure with the viscoelastic behavior of FFF-manufactured PAHT-CF composites, highlighting their potential for the production of lightweight military prototypes. |
