| Abstract Scope |
UNS N09925 is an age-hardenable Ni-Fe-Cr alloy that exhibits outstanding corrosion resistance, rendering it well suitable for high pressure high temperature sour gas and offshore applications. Substituting solid round bars with seamless pipes can improve the material utilization and reduce costs. Nevertheless, research on N09925 seamless pipes remains relatively scarce. This study explores the effects of seamless manufacturing and aging on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance of the pipes. Single-step aging results in lower yield strength but higher impact toughness. Double-step aging significantly increases the yield strength through the precipitation of γ′ phase. Corrosion tests, including four point bending (FPB), slow strain rate testing (SSRT), and hydrogen-induced stress cracking (HISC) tests, verify the excellent environmental resistance. The results confirm that appropriately processed N09925 seamless pipes meet the mechanical and corrosion requirements, and can serve as a highly efficient alternative to bar stock in oil and gas applications. |
