| Abstract Scope |
Dave is the founder, President, and CTO at Lilac Solutions, where he developed a novel technology for lithium extraction based on a ceramic ion exchange media (IXM). This IXM enables high lithium recovery, high impurity rejection, fast kinetics, and low water usage. The company recently built a manufacturing line to produce the IXM at commercial scale, and is planning initial deployment of the material at Lilac's Great Salt Lake project in Utah. Dave’s journey in lithium extraction began in the Wolverton Group at Northwestern with DFT calculations to assess new lithium metal oxide phases for lithium ion exchange reversibility and selectivity. This presentation will detail the journey from DFT calculations and materials discovery, through to field validation and scale up. |
