Abstract Scope |
Almost everything corrodes. Sometimes we go to pains to uncouple corrosion from other degradation phenomena, sometimes we don’t. Sometimes don’t need to, and sometimes we should.
In this talk, I’ll share a few things I think about coupled effects of radiation and corrosion. I’ll talk about other degradation phenomena that are often coupled with corrosion like mechanical stress, and share some musings about how much I think they matter, based on the best evidence we have.
I’ll talk about some current projects we’re working on in my lab to figure out coupled effects of corrosion, radiation, and/or stress in molten salts and irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking in light water reactors. |
