Abstract Scope |
Lithium extraction is of increasing global importance due to rising demand and resource limitations. Lithium occurs in natural brines and minerals containing high levels of impurities, which complicate selective recovery. Conventional methods often struggle to separate lithium efficiently, while also generating hazardous waste and consuming large volumes of water. This project investigates electrochemical techniques for direct lithium extraction, targeting the production of lithium hydroxide (LiOH). Electrodialysis (ED) and Capacitive Deionization (CDI) are evaluated to optimize operating conditions, and both methods are integrated into a hybrid system designed to improve efficiency and adaptability. The study supports the advancement of scalable, environmentally sustainable and responsible alternatives for lithium recovery from complex sources. |
