| Abstract Scope |
This study investigates the effects of steel and NiTi shape memory alloy (SMA) fibers on the mechanical properties of cementitious materials. Unconfined compressive strength (UCS), flexural strength, and splitting tensile tests are conducted to evaluate and compare the influence of selected fiber volume fractions of both steel and SMA fibers on the behavior of reinforced concrete samples. Two distinct types of NiTi SMA fibers—shape memory and superelastic at room temperature—are incorporated to assess their contributions to the performance. The results provide a better understanding of how steel and SMA fibers can be used to enhance the performance of concrete in structural applications. |
