Abstract Scope |
In this study, we use cold spray, HVOF, and plasma spray to process a eutectic high entropy alloyconsisting of soft FCC and hard BCC/B2 lamellar structure. XRD results indicate that all coatingsamples have experienced different extends of phase transformation. As characterized by SEM andWDS mapping, the processing environments of HVOF and plasma spray favour the formation ofAl2O3, showing high extends of elemental segregation of the Al in the NiAl rich BCC/B2 phase.Hardness on both the coating surfaces and cross-sections is increased due to the precipitation ofoxides. Cold sprayed samples show phase transformation with preservation of the lamellarmicrostructure and no significant signs of elemental segregation or oxidation. Cold spray is apromising manufacturing technique for the deposition of HEA coatings.
We also make a comparison of the wear resistance of with arc-melted HEAs and MEAs up to 1000 °C. Here we systematically study the high-temperature hardness, wear behaviours and mechanisms. |
