| Abstract Scope |
Lightweighting is essential in the automotive, shipbuilding, and aerospace industries for improving efficiency and reducing emissions. This study investigated the effects of heat treatment on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and fatigue behavior of a forged aluminum alloy used for battery fastening components. Specimens were heat-treated from room temperature to 400 °C at 100 °C intervals, held for 1 hour, and air-cooled. Microstructures were characterized using FE-SEM and EBSD. Tensile, compression, and bending tests were conducted using a universal testing machine, and fatigue tests were performed at room temperature. The results showed that heat-treatment temperature significantly influenced microstructural evolution and corresponding mechanical and fatigue properties. In particular, variations in grain structure and deformation behavior were associated with changes in strength, ductility, and fatigue resistance under repeated loading conditions. These findings provide useful property data for optimizing heat-treatment conditions and improving the reliability of forged aluminum alloys for automotive battery component applications. |
