| Abstract Scope |
The content for the Molten Salt Thermal Properties Database-Thermochemical (MSTDB-TC) has been expanded in both chloride and fluoride base systems to allow consideration of the complex equilibria of corrosion processes in molten salt reactors (MSRs). This includes addition of structural alloy and related phase models to allow representing more realistic interactions with the salts. These will be illustrated along with examples of applications of equilibrium calculations that demonstrate the nature of corrosion processes and potential means for controlling corrosion in MSRs. Such calculations also allow the demonstration of possible transport and deposition of corrosion elements in the cold leg of thermal gradient loops and these will be described. |
