| Abstract Scope |
High silicon steel (HSS) is a widely recognized, exceptional soft-magnet material that features high magnetic permeability, high electrical resistivity, and low magnetostriction. These intrinsic attributes collectively reduce core loss and enhance energy efficiency. Despite these advantages, the widespread industrial adoption of HSS has been hindered by its brittleness, which arises from the ordered phases. One practical approach is to add alloying elements that destabilize ordered phases and enhance ductility in HSS. In the present work, Fe-6.5wt.%Si-based alloys were cast and processed by hot rolling. The effects of ternary alloying additions on ordering behavior and processability were investigated. The evolution of ordered phases and domains was characterized using advanced techniques, including transmission electron microscopy and high-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction. This work aims to obtain a quantitative understanding of phase structure and order parameters of ordered phases in HSS alloys, and to determine how processing and ternary alloying influence ordering behavior. |
