| Abstract Scope |
NiTiCu shape memory alloys are promising for elastocaloric cooling, but successful binder jet additive manufacturing requires careful control of debinding before sintering. In this study, cold casting was used as a low-powder-consumption platform to optimize debinding conditions for pre-alloyed NiTiCu7.5% specimens prior to transfer to binder jetting. Six debinding methods with different thermal and atmospheric conditions were systematically investigated. Their effectiveness was compared based on macroscopic sample condition, visible surface contamination, and elemental analysis after debinding. The results showed that the debinding route strongly influenced sample cleanliness and residual contamination, allowing the most promising condition to be identified for subsequent processing. This work establishes an initial debinding window for NiTiCu and provides a practical foundation for future sintering optimization, phase-transformation evaluation, and eventual assessment of elastocaloric behavior. |
